At Hogan Design & Construction, most hall bathroom remodels start at $25,000 and most primary bathroom remodels start at $50,000. Those figures come from our 2026 Bathroom Pricing Guide, which sorts each type of bathroom into three remodeling levels based on the footprint, the amount of structural and plumbing work, and the finish level. Here is what each level includes.
Every figure below comes from the 2026 Hall Bath Case Study and the 2026 Master Bath Case Study. Budgets assume demolition and a rebuild in the existing location; pricing varies with selections and structural changes.
A hall bathroom is the shared full bath, usually about 60 square feet. All three levels keep that footprint; what changes is how much of the room moves and what goes back in.
No structural or plumbing changes. The existing cabinetry and molding are painted, and the countertop is granite or lower-level quartz. Fixtures such as the toilet and sink are new entry-level pieces, the tub or shower gets a fiberglass surround with no shower door, and the floor is LVP or basic tile. Lighting is entry-level and no electrical work is added.
Minor structural and plumbing changes. The vanity is semi-custom painted cabinetry with soft-close drawers under a low to mid-level quartz countertop. Fixtures step up to mid-level. The tub or shower is tiled with a glass shower door, the floor is mid-level tile, and the lighting is mid-level. Can lights are added and electrical is relocated where needed.
Major structural and plumbing changes. Cabinetry is a custom painted and stained mix with soft-close drawers, and the countertop is quartz, quartzite, or marble. Fixtures are luxury grade. The tub or shower is fully tiled, surround and pan, and the floor is luxury tile with heat. Lighting is high-end. Can lights, heated flooring, and options like a jetted tub are included at this level.
A primary (master) bathroom is larger, and its footprint grows with each level, which is why its starting price is double a hall bath.
A 60 to 90 square foot footprint with no structural or plumbing changes. Cabinets are new box-store units or the existing cabinetry repainted, with a granite or lower-level quartz countertop. Fixtures are entry-level, the tub or shower gets a fiberglass surround without a shower door, and the floor is LVP or basic tile. Lighting is entry-level and no electrical is added.
A 90 to 120 square foot footprint with minor structural and plumbing changes. Semi-custom painted cabinets with soft-close drawers and a linen cabinet, mid-level quartz countertops, and mid-level fixtures. The tub or shower is tiled with a glass door, the floor is mid-level tile, and the lighting is mid-level. Can lights are added and electrical is relocated.
A footprint of 120 square feet or more with major structural and plumbing changes. Cabinetry is a custom painted and stained mix with soft-close drawers and linen cabinets, and the countertop is quartz, quartzite, or marble. Fixtures are luxury grade, the tub or shower is fully tiled with a tiled pan, and the floor is luxury tile with heat. Lighting is high-end, and can lights, heated flooring, and a jetted tub are part of the scope.
A bathroom addition builds new space onto your home instead of remodeling an existing room, so it's priced separately. Bathroom additions with Hogan Design & Construction start at $250,000.
Three things move a bathroom from one level to the next: structural and plumbing changes (none at Level A, minor at Level B, major at Level C), cabinetry (painted or box-store, then semi-custom, then custom), and tile and stone (a fiberglass surround and LVP floor, then a tiled surround with a glass door, then a fully tiled shower with a tiled pan and heated luxury tile). For a primary bath, a larger footprint usually means taking space from a closet or bedroom, which is structural work. Appliances are provided by the homeowner at every level.
Once construction starts, most bathroom remodels take 3 to 8 weeks. The 2026 case studies show a typical schedule of 5 to 7 weeks, from demolition through tile, cabinets, countertops, shower glass, and the final inspection.
Hall bathroom remodels with Hogan Design & Construction start at $25,000. Level A runs $25,000 to $35,000, Level B runs $35,000 to $45,000, and Level C starts at $45,000, per our 2026 Hall Bath Case Study.
Primary bathroom remodels start at $50,000. Level A runs $50,000 to $70,000, Level B runs $70,000 to $95,000, and Level C starts at $95,000, per our 2026 Master Bath Case Study.
At Level A, the layout and plumbing stay put. You get painted or box-store cabinetry, a granite or lower-level quartz countertop, new entry-level fixtures, a fiberglass tub or shower surround, LVP or basic tile flooring, and entry-level lighting. There is no added electrical work.
