A Geneva, Illinois Institution, this cozy cafe in the heart of historic downtown was looking to create more space for their bakery as well as for customer events. The goal was to maintain, yet update, their warm and inviting feel. A two-story addition was added off the back and to the side of the original footprint and finishes were updated and refreshed to accomplish the vision.
A new entrance was added to welcome customers in. Up the stairs, a deck space was added and the front, ground level patio was leveled and repaved to make the perfect setting for an indoor-outdoor soirée, or just a great spot for customers when the sun is shining.
The kitchen/prep space was expanded to allow for an increase in production of their coveted ice cream as well as to allow them the opportunity to increase their food offerings. More bathrooms were added to accommodate their guests as well as make them more handicap accessible.
A new flexible space with a large landing and bar space was created upstairs. Sliding barn doors can be used to close off individual rooms or open up the space for larger affairs. An elevator was added to make the entire space accessible for all.
