Kennedy Covered Porch | Whole Home Remodel

In this home remodeling project, the homeowners struggled to combat a few challenging issues in their backyard. Due to their southern exposure, the sun relentlessly beats down on their backyard all summer. Furthermore, they live in a subdivision where the houses are built very closely together. Finally, there is a walking path located behind the fence in their backyard. With all of these variables present, it made for a challenging space to transform.

After sitting down with the customers, we helped identify their needs for this space. They needed a covered area so they could go outside with their kids, but not have to be in the sun the entire time. With that in mind, it is also crucial that the space is comfortable and spacious to accommodate longer sessions outside.

This new covered space features an accent wall to help dress up the inside of the space, but also provide some privacy from the neighbors. Next, cabinetry was added to the wall. The added storage space is perfect for storing food during a barbecue, or to do homework while enjoying the outdoors. Finally, to ensure privacy from the walking path behind the fence, mechanical screens were installed. These screens also help protect from bugs and other pests. The art of home remodeling focuses on taking someone's needs and creating a solution that exceeds their expectations while bringing functionality and luxury into their home. This project does exactly that.
