25 Years Strong: Lessons from a Quarter Century in Home Remodeling

June 25, 2025 Brian Hogan

The Hogan Design and Construction Team

This year, Hogan Design & Construction is proud to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. In 25 years, we’ve gone from a start-up company finding its footing to an established luxury home remodeling and home construction firm with deep roots in our community and a sterling reputation among our clients. What hasn’t changed is our unprecedented Beyond Building standard of customer service excellence, quality craftsmanship, and dedication to the communities we serve. From day one, we’ve made learning a priority, and that mindset has fueled our growth both as a company and as a team.

Among the many things that we’ve learned, a few essential lessons have become fundamental to how we do business:

Lesson #1: Treat Your Customer Well, and You Will Always Have Work

Plenty of companies claim to be customer-focused, but we’ve learned it’s the small, consistent actions that make it a reality.

  • Call back quickly—because people deserve respect.
  • Be considerate—because people and their homes deserve care.

Treating our customers with honesty and respect has never led us wrong. It’s now part of our mission statement, and it will guide us for the next 25 years and beyond.

Lesson #2: Insight Has Many Sources

In striving to always be learning and growing, we’ve realized that insight can come from anywhere. Our clients constantly inspire us with fresh ideas and bold visions, and many of our most valuable lessons have come from industry peers who’ve helped us refine how we serve our clients and grow our business.

As a leader and Facilitator in the Remodelers Advantage organization, we continue to collaborate with others in the industry as part of our never-ending commitment to improvement.

Lesson #3: Building a Great Team Is the Key to Sustainable Success

As we’ve grown, “I’ve seen how the company’s future is built around the entire team. Success is about all of the people and not any one person. Finding and retaining great people is the biggest challenge in this industry, but we’ve built a culture that attracts talented individuals and helps them thrive. That’s what makes me most optimistic about the next 25 years. I take tremendous pride in what we’ve accomplished over the past quarter century, powered by a team that continues to grow and improve day after day. We still have plenty more to learn, but we’re excited about both how far we’ve come and the path that lies ahead,” said Brian Hogan, Founder/Owner of Hogan Design & Construction.

A Community-Focused Celebration

To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we’ve launched an initiative called HDC’s 25th Anniversary – 25 Random Acts of Kindness. Kicked off in April of 2025, we’re supporting the communities we serve through a range of different acts throughout the rest of this year.

For our first act of kindness in April, we worked with the Aurora, Illinois, chapter of Feed My Starving Children to help pack meals for people in need. In May we donated essential items to the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and paid it forward by treating 25+ patrons at Limestone Coffee & Tea to free beverages.

In the coming months, we’ll also distribute gift cards to local businesses in Glen Ellyn, make donations to charities in Wheaton, and volunteer with the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity

At Hogan Design & Construction, we believe that remodeling is about more than just building beautiful spaces. It’s about building lasting relationships, strengthening our community, and constantly striving to do better. As we celebrate 25 years of service, we remain committed to our core values of integrity, craftsmanship, and customer care. So here's to the next 25 years of going Beyond Building!
